Scientific achievements in two disciplines: management and quality sciences (50%); economics and finance (50%)

Research interests

Main areas: tourism market, in particular: mountain, sports and adventure tourism markets, consumer behaviour on the market, social aspects of tourism, meetings and events industry and its impact on the economy, event management, management of incentive travel, innovative orientation of enterprises providing business services.

Functions performed
  • Member of the KUE Senate in the 2019-2024 term;
  • Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Science in 2019 – present;
  • Chairwoman of the Faculty Committee for the Development of Scientific and Teaching Staff in the years 2008-2012, member of the Committee for the Development of the Scientific and Teaching Staff in the years 2013 to the present;
  • Chairwoman of the Faculty Nostrification Committee in 2012-2019;
  • Chairwoman of the Institute Committee for the Nostrification of student diplomas in 2019-present;
  • Supervisor (Home Mentor) of the employee – Dr Katarzyna Klimek – on behalf of the home university in a research project implemented as part of the SCIEX scientific exchange program between Switzerland and the new member states of the European Union;
  • Member of the Senate Committee on Accreditation in 2012-2016;
  • Member of the Senate Committee on International Cooperation in 2012-2016;
  • Member of the University Ethics Committee for Scientific Research 2019 – to date;
  • Expert of the Polish Accreditation Committee in 2016- to date;
 
Scientific activity
  • Author and co-author of over 150 publications on tourism issues; innovation, business services and consumer behaviour;
  • Thematic editor at the Bulletin of Geography magazine. Socio-economic Series, from 2022 to 2028;
  • Member of the UEK Foundation team researching the meetings industry in Krakow from 2009 to the present;
  • Member of the Krakow Tourism Expert Team, examining the impact of tourism and the meetings industry on Krakow’s economy, from 2016 to the present;
  • Expert in the field of sports (adventure) tourism, cooperation with the Polish Tourist and Ski Stations association;
  • Member of the Adventure Tourism Research Association;
  • Supervisor of doctoral dissertations: 7 promoted Doctors, including 2 in English, 3 further processes in progress.
  • Committee member (4) and reviewer (5) in habilitation processes, reviewer of doctoral theses (19, including two in English at the University of Vilnius).
  • Participation in conferences, including many international ones, papers at international conferences on tourism: Cyprus (2013), Sri Lanka (2014) (keynote speaker), Oman (2014), Norway (2014), Ireland (2016), Spain (2018), Croatia (2019), Scotland (2019);
  • Grant of the Ministry of Science and Education of Kazakhstan for a foreign scientist – November 2023.

mountain tourism (pb: 6088m), trekking: e.g. 14-day unsupported two-person trek on Spitsbergen, ski-touring (Chile, Morocco, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Spitsbergen), freeride (Indian Kashmir, Georgia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan), diving (Rescue Diver and P2 in CMAS) all warm seas of the world.
