Dr Anna Irena Szymańska

Dr. Anna Irena Szymańska graduated from the Faculty of Management and Marketing at the University of Economics in Krakow. She holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences with a specialization in Management and Quality. Dr. A.I. Szymańska currently works as an assistant professor in the Department of Commerce and Market Institutions at the University of Economics in Krakow.

She has wide experience in teaching and research as well as business (several years of working, inter alia, in specialist and managerial positions in the SME sector and in an international corporation).

She completed a number of scientific and research internships abroad (Unîmes University, Nimes in France; Ural Federal University, Ekaterinburg in Russia; Süleyman Demirel University, Isparta in Turkey; Silesian University, Opava, School of Business Administration, Karvina in the Czech Republic; Belarusian State University, Minsk in Belarus) conducting lectures, research and scientific consultations as well as participating in international scientific conferences.

In 2020, she was the winner of the MINIATURA 4 competition funded by NCN and independently carried out a research project on the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the market behaviour of young adults (generation C) in the sharing economy” (DEC-2020/04/X/HS4/00515).

Additionally, she was a member of the team implementing the educational and scientific project “I Am Entrepreneurial”, an innovative program for teaching entrepreneurship and economics in practice (POKL.03.03.04-00-156/12). The project resulted in the development of e-textbook content for secondary schools, lesson plans, and quiz questions for HeadMaster.

She was awarded the UEK Rector’s awards for special individual scientific achievements and team organizational achievements. Moreover, in 2023, she was awarded the Medal of the National Education Commission for special contributions to education and upbringing as well as the Silver Medal for long-term service.

Since 2011, he has been a member of the scientific committee of annual international scientific conferences on entrepreneurship (organized by the Institute of Law, Economy and Administration of the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow), as well as a member of the Editorial Board of the magazine “Bitlis Eren Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi” of the Bitlis Eren University, Bitlis in Turkey.

Additionally, while working at the Pedagogical University of Krakow (in 2011-2018), she held various roles, including:

• Member of the Editorial Board and Secretary of the Journal “Entrepreneurship – Education”

• Member of the Organizing Committee for Annual International Entrepreneurship Conferences

• Member of the Organizing Committee for Annual International Conferences on Economic Geography

• Member of the Organizing Committee for the International Geography Olympiad (IGEO) 2014

• Content Coordinator for the specialization “Entrepreneurship in Spatial Economy” (both full-time and part-time undergraduate studies)

• Member of the Education Quality Team for the ‘Spatial Management’ faculty

She is the author of several dozen scientific publications, including three monographs:

· Consumer Market Behavior (evolution of behavior, determinants shaping it, new consumption trends, consumer psychology) and their implications for business strategies

· Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Enterprises, with a special focus on the SME sector (new business models)

· Sustainable Development

· Marketing Communication

In her free time, she loves travelling, dancing, photography, theatre, biographical and medical books.
