Department of marketing

Head of the Department: dr hab. Agnieszka Żbikowska, prof. UEK

Department of Marketing was established in 1992. The Department employs 16 academic teachers. The main areas of scientific activity of the Department’s employees include, among others:

  • marketing management,
  • marketing strategies of organisations,
  • international marketing,
  • social marketing,
  • internet marketing
  • marketing of cultural goods.

Professors, assistant professors and lecturers of the Department are authors of many scientific monographs, textbooks, scripts, articles, reports. These works have been published in Poland and abroad. Among the most recent publications, the following works should be singled out:

The Department’s staff participate in national and international conferences. The Department itself also organises conferences and symposia on contemporary marketing issues. Employees are members of the programme boards of a number of scientific journals in the field of marketing at home and abroad. They also act as advisors, prepare expert reports and opinions for companies, courts and other institutions. The Chair cooperates with both Polish and foreign universities of economics. Prof. J.W. Wiktor was the initiator of awarding an honorary doctorate to Professor Philip Kotler of Northwestern University in Chicago, the world’s foremost authority on marketing.

The staff of the Department of Marketing maintain extensive contacts with companies in various sectors, belonging to both small and large business. The contacts result in the possibility of carrying out empirical research, receiving job or internship offers for students, as well as organising Business Academies combining practice with marketing theory.

On the initiative of the Department’s staff, since October 2014 it has been possible to study the unique in Poland course Marketing and Market Communication at the Cracow University of Economics. The studies were launched simultaneously at the bachelor’s and master’s level.
The KolMark Marketing Scientific Circle operates at the Department.
