He is a graduate of the Cracow University of Economics, is a full professor of economic sciences, and holds the position of Head of the Chair of Marketing at the Institute of Management, in the College of Management and Quality Sciences.
Scientific interests focus on issues of marketing, marketing management, marketing communication, international marketing, euromarketing and international management. In recent years they have been broadened – by becoming involved in a wide current of discussion on the quality of higher education, the identity of marketing as a scientific discipline, the integration of disciplines and methodological approaches. He is the author, co-author and editor of approximately 350 scientific publications, including several monographs and textbooks, many articles published nationally and internationally. He was Dean of the Faculty of Management (1996-1999), Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Educational Quality (2008-2012), Chairman of the Council of Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of Management, Chairman of the Programme Council of the Małopolska School of Public Administration at UEK (2010-2018). He is a member of the University Council at UEK for the first (2019-2020) and second term (2021-2024). He was a member of the Committee for the Evaluation of Scientific Units (2012) from 2013 to 2016 participated in the work of the NEC expert team for the parametric evaluation of scientific units in the field of economic sciences; he was an expert in the Science Committee of the Committee for Scientific Research (2008-2010) and in the National Science Centre (2011-2012), a member of the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles.
He was a member of the Central Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles for the term 2017-2020, was a co-founder of the Polish Scientific Marketing Association, vice-chairman of the board (2013-2017), and is chairman of the Scientific Council of the PNTM (since 2017).
Since 2011 he has been a member of the Committee on Organization and Management Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), working in several committees of the Committee, in the current term (2020-2024) he is a member of the Chapter of the Prof. T. Kotarbiński Medal, he is a member of the Committee on Economic Sciences of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences in Krakow.
In 2021, he was elected to the General Council for Science and Higher Education for the term 2022-2025. In the Council, he serves as chairman of the Economic and Legal Commission.
Extra-professional interests: mountain tourism – as a Tatra guide he spends his free time in the mountains. Until the outbreak of the pandemic, he organised cyclical October student trips to the Slovak High Tatras. Another trip is currently being planned.
